WIMP (Windows, IIS, MySQL, PHP)

Most developers want an environment to test PHP scripts without having to upload to a server. I typically work on a Windows machine and think IIS is fine for developing. The advantage of using IIS rather than Apache is if you need to develop in ASP as well as PHP. Other than that, maybe it is just habit for me.

A WIMP workstation is pretty easy to set up and in this post I will describe the steps I take to get things up and running quickly.
